Some construction projects carry a significance beyond the work itself. This spring, Resetarits Construction was honored to join hundreds of contractors, suppliers, skilled tradespeople, first responders, and volunteers in building a mortgage-free, fully accessible home for injured U.S. Army veteran Nathan Kalwicki and his family in West Falls, New York. The project was led by A Soldier’s Journey Home, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans.
Nathan Kalwicki grew up in West Falls and joined the U.S. Army at just 18 years old. While serving as an Army Specialist in Afghanistan in 2011, he was shot multiple times during a patrol, injuries that ultimately resulted in the loss of his right leg. After returning home, Nathan faced the physical and emotional challenges of rebuilding his life while adapting to homes that were not designed for his needs. Through the mission of A Soldier’s Journey Home, Nathan and his wife, Veronica, were presented with a custom-built, mortgage-free home designed to provide the accessibility, comfort, and independence their family deserves.
Resetarits Construction was proud to contribute to this extraordinary community effort. Members of our team volunteered their time to install interior door trim, build custom mudroom benches, construct attic access stairs, and assist with painting as the home neared completion. While our contribution represented just one small part of the overall project, it was a privilege to work alongside so many organizations united by a common purpose.

The home was made possible through the generosity of countless volunteers, local businesses, unions, suppliers, and community partners who donated their time, expertise, equipment, and materials. Their collective efforts transformed a vision into a permanent home where Nathan and Veronica can build their future together.
