Resetarits Construction completed a transformative renovation of the University at Buffalo Student Union Lobby, creating a modern, welcoming space that enhances the student experience while serving as one of the campus’s primary gathering places. The phased renovation reimagined the lobby, grand staircase, entry sequence, and connecting bridge, blending contemporary architectural design with durable, high-performance materials built to withstand the demands of a busy university environment.
One of the project’s defining features is the dramatic new lobby experience. Visitors are welcomed through a redesigned storefront entrance into an open space highlighted by an architecturally striking staircase, illuminated by integrated LED lighting and complemented by premium terrazzo flooring. Above, custom wood slat acoustic ceiling systems provide both visual warmth and sound control, creating a space that is as functional as it is impressive.
The renovation also included extensive upgrades to the building envelope and campus connectivity. The exterior bridge was enhanced with fire-rated glass systems, improving safety while preserving transparency and natural daylight. Throughout the project, Resetarits coordinated structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection improvements while working within an occupied campus facility and maintaining safe access for students, faculty, and visitors.
